Book reading at Simsim
On 15th October, I dropped the kids at my mom’s place and headed out to Simsim, Rehmat’s store in Kalyannagar. I had a copy of Blinkers Off, a box of brownies and hope that friends would turn up for the book reading. And they did.
Simsim is a lovely shop with quaint knick knacks and curios, pretty earrings and the like and if I had been living any closer I would have known where to go for the prettiest gifts for my friends.
Old friends, well wishers and new friends turned up and we sat down on the carpeted floor to start my reading. I wasn’t nervous but yes, I hoped I wouldn’t bore my audience. That was my foremost thought. I read out three passages from three chapters and I probably confused everyone but they assured me that it had interested and intrigued them. Well, good!
Everyone loved the brownies and some people picked up copies of the book as well. It was a great feeling and I hope I never get jaded about this sort of excitement. The kind that comes from watching people buy my book and asking me to sign it!
